You'll be mainly in charge of our female brand, iroha, translating from Japanese to English and finessing English content to resonate deeply with our audience (with occasional support for TENGA). Perfect if you love playing with words and are excited by the potential of AI tools to supercharge your translation and copywriting efforts. We'll provide a clear Language Guide to ensure seamless brand consistency.

With this philosophy in mind, TENGA launched its brand of self-pleasure items.

In addition to the development of self-pleasure items, TENGA is also creating a wide range of wellness products, including food and apparel. To this date, the company has shipped out over 120 million units.

We are also focusing on overseas expansion, as our sales network now extends across 70+ countries and regions.

Additionally, our women's brand iroha, launched in March 2013, has seen growth in both its target audience and the overall self-pleasure market.

Since the launch of our intimate care items in March 2020, we have sold 400,000 units in total. We've also experienced substantial growth in our domestic business network, expanding from approximately 1,200 to currently over 10,000 stores.

Job Description

1: Execute High-Quality Translation and Copywriting

・Translate and finesse content from Japanese to English, ensuring it resonates deeply with the target audience.

・Adapt brand site text and e-commerce content to maintain a creative and engaging tone.

・Utilize AI tools effectively to supercharge translation efficiency and copywriting quality.

・Adhere to the provided Language Guide to ensure seamless brand consistency across all platforms.

2: Create and Manage Multichannel Content

・Write, edit, and check SEO content, news posts, newsletters, and press releases.

・Develop and refine user manuals to ensure clarity and accuracy for the end user.

・Review graphic layouts for various materials, including product packaging and manuals, to ensure textual integrity.

・(Optional) Perform translation and editing tasks in additional languages such as Italian, Spanish, French, German, or Chinese if applicable.

3: Collaborate and Facilitate Internal Projects

・Liaise with various internal teams to ensure alignment on brand messaging and project goals.

・Provide on-site instruction for voice actors during the production of promotional content.

・Support occasional English content needs for the TENGA brand in addition to primary responsibilities for iroha.

*You’ll be mainly in charge of our female brand, iroha, translating from Japanese to English and finessing English content to resonate deeply with our audience (with occasional support for TENGA)

Requirements

・Fluent or above Japanese speaker/writer (Example: able to understand obscure Onomatopeia)
・Native level English (Example: able to come up with wordplay based on product or sensations etc.)
・1-2 years of copywriting experience
・Able to provide examples of previous work (Articles, Blogs etc. in any language but English is priority)
・Knowledgeable about the topic of female sexuality (for writing iroha content)

・Business level or above (in order) Italian, Spanish, Chinese, French, German, Dutch, Swedish, Polish, Dutch, Portuguese or Danish)
・Experience using TMS (Translation Management System) or CAT (Computer-Assisted Translation) tools (We currently use Phrase)
・Proficiency in Google Workspace: Docs, Sheets, Gemini, etc. (We encourage the use of AI tools for efficiency)
・Basic HTML knowledge
・Experience with coordinating with other team members and departments to ensure no problems with tone, language, and voice
・Proven ability to meet deadlines
・Proven ability to write blogs for SEO purposes
・Excellent interpersonal skills
・Highly self-motivated
・Strong written communication skills
